QUOTES OF PROF. BOVE ON FOCAL THERAPIES

Focal therapies are currently one of the most interesting innovations in urologic oncology. These mini- or micro-invasive approaches allow us to treat only the area of the prostate affected by the tumor, sparing the rest of the gland.

Not all patients are ideal candidates, but in cases where we have precise MRI mapping and targeted biopsy confirmation, we can intervene very accurately on the pathological focus, avoiding unnecessary damage to healthy tissue.”

Focal therapy can utilize different energy sources depending on the clinical and anatomical characteristics: heat (as in laser or HIFU), or cold (as in cryotherapy). The goal is always the same: to be effective on the tumor, while gentle on the patient.
